Claudine “Scottie” Lingelbach served in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service) as a courier for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She enlisted in 1944 and attained the rank of Ensign. Interviewed on June 18, 2007, by Pattie Johnston, Lingelbach talked about her military experiences during the Second World War. Lingelbach was born in Colorado on April 8, 1922, and grew up in Topeka, Kansas. She earned a business degree from the University of Kansas before joining WAVES. She completed basic training at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Lingelbach passed away on April 3, 2018.
